Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.
Senior Mining Engineer
Work Location: Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8/6 – Flying Wednesday to Wednesday
We are currently seeking highly motivated Senior Mining Engineer to join the Iron Bridge operations planning team. Reporting to the Short Term Planning Superintendent, this role is responsible for leading scheduling engineers to prepare and communicate the short term production schedules in order to achieve grade and tonnes targets.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead team delivery of safe, practical and efficient schedules and designs, and help to organise environmental and heritage permit requirements to mine operations.
- Deliver Ore feed and stockpiling plans, and coordinate planning, technical and operations stakeholders
- Provide mentoring and development to mining engineers, and work with construction and projects to ensure mutual completion of targets
- Develop mine planning systems, processes and software setup
- Participate or lead incident investigations where mine planning is involved
- Manage Data integration & reporting requirements for conformance to plan and End of Month requirements
Qualifications and skills required:
- Proven experience as a mining engineer, with a Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or similar, with a practical approach to engineering and design problems, AND appropriate project management skills to allow scheduling of mining and construction activities
- Demonstrated experience in a greenfields operation including design and implementation of systems of work, with a good understanding and demonstrated ability in risk management including investigation and safety through design
- Broad depth of knowledge and experience including mine geology and mineral processing, knowledge in open pit mining preferably in deep pit (hard rock / base metal operations) and ideally experience with Autonomous mining & fleet management systems
- Computer proficiency (Excel, MS Office, Vulcan, Mine planning package - Alastri, Xact/Xpac or similar) with strong analytical & data query skills with attention to detail; Experience with Tableau / Power BI & knowledge of Python or C Sharp programming will be advantageous
- Team orientation and demonstrated ability to take initiative; Experience using collaborative platforms like SharePoint, Trello, Confluence etc. will be advantageous
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical detail to a variety of stakeholder
