Senior Mining Engineer - Decarbonisation Studies

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Mining Engineer to join our Decarbonisation Studies team. Reporting to the Principal Mining Engineer - Decarbonisation Studies, this role is responsible for carrying out activities to support the Decarbonisation studies within the Iron Ore Projects portfolio.

To be successful in this role candidates must have strong interpersonal skills with good understanding of both operational and planning functions within the mining industry, including the technical and support functions that support these areas. The candidate will possess strong technical skills and being able to articulate potential risks and opportunities within the planned works to the relevant stakeholders.

 Key accountabilities will include:

  • Investigate and evaluate decarbonisation options and strategy for future mine fleet and projects
  • Planning, execution, and delivery of studies; objectively, efficiently, and effectively by coordinating deliverables from across a broad group of technical and support teams
  • Complete, or coordinate as required, the technical work for any mining options, including design and scheduling
  • Liaise with technical support functions to understand risk and opportunities to the proposed operations and to include this in designs
  • The role will also interact with internal operational and functional stakeholders and will be expected to effectively communicate with these teams

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mining or similar)
  • Practical and solutions focused approach to mine planning and design problems
  • Previous experience of leading or part of trolley assist implementation studies (Preferred but not required)
  • Previous experience of designing and optimising trolley specific pits
  • Strong interpersonal skills with both operations and technical teams
  • Experience on Vulcan and Alastri software (ATS) is preferred
