Senior Mining Engineer – Drill and Blast

Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

Roster: 4D/3R FIFO ex. Perth

We are currently seeking Senior Mining Engineer - Drill and Blast to join our operations. Reporting to the Short-Term Planning Superintendent, this role is responsible for manage Drill and Blast Engineering team to conduct drill and blast design and scheduling activities that ensure Mining Operations has continual steady activity and blasted stocks to provide sufficient blending options.

Key responsibilities include: 

• Supervise drill and blast design process effectively to achieve optimal fragmentation & drill productivity
• Provide decision-making support to Mining Operations field supervisors with respect to drill and blast activities including cavity management plan
• Recruitment, development and performance management of Drill and Blast Engineers
• Ensure development of weekly Drill and Blast schedule and timely drill area preparation
• Prepare 2 year and 3 month Drill and Blast Schedules
• Provide input to Drill and Blast budget

Education and Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or equivalent
• 4+ years' Mining and D&B engineering experience
• Excellent Drill & Blast engineering and mining operational knowledge
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Extensive Drill & Blast software exposure
