About the Role
Here at Mt Arthur Coal, we are looking for a Senior Drill, Blast and Design Engineer to join our Technical Services team to help develop safe and efficient designs to support the operational teams. This opportunity is open to candidates with all levels of experience. The role is offered on a 5 day/week roster.
Some of your responsibilities will include, however are not limited to;
- The ability to manage, engage, lead and coach a team of technical personnel
- Critical thinking ability with a strong desire to innovate
- Be a visible and active safety leader
- Mentor and guide the team of drill, blast and design engineers to ensure that the designs and mine plans supporting the monthly to 6 month integrated planning horizons are delivered on time, to a high quality
- Identify, assess, manage, and communicate risks to the execution of the mine plan to senior management
- Monitor and track operational execution against the mine plans
- Effectively communicate planning outputs to internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders to deliver key design objectives

About You
As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or similar, 3+ years of drill and blast engineering experience with extensive through seam exposure. Prior experience in senior position will be highly regarded.
- The ability to liaise, negotiate and influence a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, to be able to effectively convey the implications of decisions made to the team, and/or a strong willingness to develop these
- Effective collaboration, stakeholder engagement and communication skills are critical
- You will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and value the importance of building team culture through regular collaboration with team members and key stakeholders
- A strong working knowledge of the following software packages is required:
- Deswik
- Vulcan
- Blast Logic
- SPRY
- Microsoft Office Suite
