About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join BHP’s Mt Arthur Coal Mine as a Senior Engineer if our Drill and Blast group.

Be based in the stunning Hunter Valley region in a residential Monday-Friday role with flexibility.

Your main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Mentoring and leading our Graduates and Mining Engineers
  • Hands on style – strong on process but maintaining a small teams approach
  • Analyse customer needs, developing and providing solutions to increase productivity, safety, and value.
  • Develop and provide explosive forecasting associated with the mine plan
  • Maintain working relationships will the drill and blast team to ensure drill patterns are distributed in a timely fashion as not to disrupt the mining cycle
  • Manage risk through the application of geotechnical controls in drill and blast design

About You

  • Degree qualifications in Mining Engineering or aligned
  • Solid experience of drill & blast engineering, preferably in open cut through seam coal
  • Experience with mine planning packages such as Blastlogic, Vulcan, Spry, Deswik etc
  • Well-rounded stakeholder management experience and excellent communication skills
  • A strong desire to innovate, problem solve and approach work with new ideas
