At Cadia you will play a part in the expansion of our Tier 1 operation developing Cadia into one of the largest, safest, most cost effective and technologically advanced block caving mines in the world.
A permanent opportunity has arisen for a driven Senior Mining Engineer to develop and deploy long and medium-term plans for the underground mining and surface operations teams, utilising an integrated planning process to identify and evaluate key strategic decisions/projects. This will include sound technical and operational factors for an optimal mine to mill plans.

Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for

- Develop and deploy Life of Province Plan (LoPP) and Medium-term – 5 year plan (5YP)
- Consult and advise internal / external CVO stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategic intent and implementation through the long to short terms plans
- Utilising and improving an integrated planning process to identify and evaluating key strategic decisions/projects
- Utilising sound technical and operational factors for an optimal Mine to Mill plans.
- Evaluate alternative projects and sequences that contribute to best long-term reserve value, utilising a ‘Hill of Value’ approach to model optimum value scenarios.
- Provide technical input, assistance and insights to Corporate, Planning and Operational teams
- Accurate long-term Production scheduling flow modelling
You will also possess the following:
You’ll have a relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering and extensive experience in designing and scheduling in a variety of operations. It’s critical to this role that you also have demonstrated working experience in underground metalliferous mining operations.
- Experience In long and medium-term mine planning (5 years & LOM), studies and business improvement initiatives
- Advanced mine planning and analysis capabilities
- Competent in the use of mining software packages, PCBC, Deswik experience would be highly advantageous
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) upwards and to operational levels
- Ability to think strategically and effectively collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
