Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.

Senior Planning Engineer – Iron Bridge Project - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Roster: 4:3 (4 days on, 3 days off) Monday – Thursday – Home every week for a long weekend with friends and family (4 nights at home)

We are looking for a Senior Planning Engineer to provide leadership for onsite mine planning, mining projects and mine design. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be part of a new, large and deep pit greenfield operations.

You would be an a highly motivated and technical professional, with a breath of on-site mine planning experience, responsible for the delivering the 3 month mine plan, Mining related Projects and mine design systems and processes at Iron Bridge.

Maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders across all operations and corporate departments will be integral to the success of team establishment and delivery of plans that align to Budget forecasts and key milestones for project ramp up. Reporting to the Superintendent Ops Planning, your responsibilities revolve around being a leader and mentor to a small on-site team at the Iron Bridge.

 Key Accountabilities:

  • Delivery of safe and practical systems, schedules, and designs (3 month mine plan, Ore feed and stockpiling schedules) and generating Cost Forecasts for 3 Month Plan Horizon
  • Review & Manage IB Mine Projects work: Scoping, Prioritising work, Schedules, Project Management Plans, cost estimates and manage design functionality: approvals, registers, databases, systems and processes
  • Assess & identify opportunities & risks with schedules: LOM, 2–5-year Plan & 3 Month Plan
  • Data Analytics & reporting aligned to performance and assumption metrics and Block model interrogation, validation, and improvements
  • Planning Model improvement scoping & Project Management and Review, forecast & track requirements for permits in mine operations space
  • Provide mentoring and development to mining engineers and work with key partners to ensure mutual completion of milestones in Strategic plans

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • A strong desire to innovate, problem solve, and approach work with new ideas
  • Excellent verbal and written skills including technical writing, and good project management ability including cross functional collaboration
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or similar field would be highly regarded
  • Vulcan or similar general mine package, including exposure to designs and block models. Alastri software suite experience would be ideal, with experience in hard rock, open cut mine planning
  • Experience with mining costs including project management, mining contract accruals, or cost estimation
