About IPRO
BHP Western Australia Iron Ore’s Integrated Production and Remote Operations (IPRO) team manages the Iron Ore supply chain via scheduling, forecasting, deviation management, controlling and inventory accounting across mine, rail and port operations. With an over-arching focus on safety, the IPRO team brings dedication, innovation and values to execute and improve productivity, safety and environmental impact.
About the Role
Within IPRO, the Production Scheduling team, while working very closely with the site leadership teams, is responsible for generating the 2-Years to Weekly mine schedules, along with the mine designs that enable their successful execution.
Reporting to the Superintendent Production Scheduling, the Senior Mining Engineer will play an integral role by:
- Utilising your experience to provide coaching and mentoring to the Production Scheduling team across both mine planning and mine design from the short term out to the 2 year horizon.
- Being able to identify value opportunities to lead improvement initiatives within the Production Scheduling team and broader MAC and IPRO departments, overseeing the implementation and execution of these through to completion.
- Striving for continuous improvement by developing processes and operating standards to support the Production Scheduling team to make our work safer, more efficient, and more effective.
- Supporting the broader team by peer reviewing the variety of work the team completes, with a focus on quality and a desire to eliminate rework.
- Using your understanding of the business’s and mine site’s strategic goals to provide input and guidance to the team and ensuring alignment across planning interfaces.
- Having a step up mindset, assisting the Superintendent to drive the performance and cultural objectives of the team and lead a safe to speak up and inclusive work environment within the team by example.
Location
Working on a Fly in Fly out basis at our Western Australia Iron Ore operations, you will enjoy outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages including; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted soccer court, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
These position is offered on a FIFO 5/2 4/3 roster, however in challenging the way we work we are also able to offer the opportunity for employees to work one or more days in Perth, to support our flexible work options.
About You
As the successful candidate, you will preferably possess the following:
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related discipline).
- Experience in a large scale open pit mining operation.
- Experience in mine design and short-medium term mine scheduling/design.
- Knowledge of CAD and Scheduling software packages is essential (such as Vulcan and Alastri)
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills are required to influence stakeholders in the delivery of positive business outcomes
- Strong analytical skills to review information, problem solve and influence stakeholders
- Sound communication and presentations skills. Demonstrated oral and written English language proficiency
- C class drivers licence
