About the role Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Scheduling, as the Senior Mining Engineer you will be engaged in planning and scheduling waste and coal movements for a large open cut mine site. You will be accountable for the 0-12 week planning horizon and ensuring your team is delivering timely and optimised schedules that support the site to deliver on Monthly and Annual targets.

This includes provision to work 1 week a month from the Brisbane Corporate office. This role is offered on a 4/3 roster with flexible working options available depending on your preference.

In this role you will:

  • Put safety above all else and strive to remove hazards;
  • Mentor and support a small team of engineers ;
  • Provide input into term schedules and designs to strategically unlock performance;
  • Work with operations to take a concept and follow through to execution;
  • Identify and implement Production Planning improvement initiatives;
  • Build cross-functional relationship with sub-functions and interact with the Planning sub-functions.

About You

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary education background in Mining Engineering with previous experience working at an operations level. Your demonstrated experience working in mine planning teams particularly designing, planning and scheduling for open cut coal mines will see you succeed in this role.

As well as your strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will have demonstrated ability to build relationships across departments and able to communicate at all levels. A strong working knowledge of design tools (SPRY/Deswik/Vulcan), Microsoft Office, software packages are desirable.

You will also be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and providing excellent results.
