Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Who We’re Looking ForAs a Senior Mining Engineer, you will be leading the mining engineering team in the planning and delivery of our future caves. You will be responsible for the delivery of detailed mine planning and scheduling of two UG projects at Cadia, one cave that is currently undercutting and a second cave that is in establishment including footprint development and mass excavation of crusher, transfer, and collections chambers.
The Senior Mining Engineer will have a strong commitment to workplace health and safety, and an ability to foster alignment and integration of key stakeholders to Newcrest Safety culture and values. In addition, will be able to think strategically and effectively collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with technical and execution teams to deliver a robust and optimised schedule.
- Lead the scheduling team responsible for monthly through to life of project schedules.
- Provide inputs and review of Weekly, RMP and execution schedules.
- Lead in identifying, reporting, and making recommendations on critical paths, bottlenecks, and key milestones.
- Coverage across mining engineering disciplines including Drill and Blast, Ventilation, and Mine Design
- Establish and maintain relationships with major business departments including Integrated Planning, Studies, Operations and Construction
- Develop and continuously improve safe and robust mine planning systems.
- Conduct visible, time in field safety leadership.
- Assist in building the site underground technical team to proceed with the next steps of underground establishment including training / mentoring and recruitment efforts.
- Collaborating with execution, project stakeholders and the Integrated Planning team to maximise effectiveness and optimise delivery of new block caves.
- Evaluate and prioritise the work of the team to deliver in both the short and long term.
- Succession planning (upskilling others); and recruiting for positions with team.
- Continuous improvement – ability to recognize and influence positive change for the team.
Our ideal candidate will have a relevant Mining degree qualification, but this is not essential. It will also be advantageous to have a NSW Mining Engineering Manager certificate of competence, or the ability to gain one.
