King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. After a significant expansion, KOTH now features a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant, providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to Principal Open Pit Mine Geologist, the Senior Open Pit Mine Geologist will contribute to the achievement of production & development targets of surface mining operations through the provision of a comprehensive service that meets internal geological and environmental health & safety standards.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Ensure safe work systems/procedures are always practiced and adhered to to ensure duties are performed in a manner that minimises risk to employees and contractors.
- Display conduct which is aligned with company Core Values, Policies and Procedures.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Project Geologists, Mine Geologists and Graduate Mine Geologists.
- Coordinate all activities around grade control drilling programmes to accurately delineate the orebody ahead of mining
- Regularly update the grade control block model and wireframes
- Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports on grade control drilling, ore reconciliation, mine geology and grade drivers
- Conduct EOM reconciliation process
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in science, Geology, or Applied Geology or a similar field.
- 7+ years industry experience working as part of an operational team in an open pit environment
- Previous experience with gold deposits
- Advanced proficiency with Acquire, Leapfrog, OrePro & Vulcan (or similar) software
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020, and Work Health and Safety (Mines) regulations 2022
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
- Hold a WA C Class Driver’s License
