About the role
PACE is an internal management consultancy embedded within Rio Tinto, with hubs in Montreal, Singapore, Perth, and Brisbane. The PACE team is a diverse team of ~40 passionate problem solvers, with individuals who have joined from internal product group or function teams working alongside former management consultants who have joined from leading strategy consulting houses.
PACE is seeking a Senior Consultant – PACE Consulting to join our established internal management consulting team in the Perth Hub. This is a critical role help to ensure PACE delivers on its mandate to accelerate the delivery of lasting value to Rio Tinto by applying high-quality problem-solving capabilities, strong communication skills and business acumen to Rio Tinto’s highest value challenges and opportunities.
Reporting to the Senior Manager PACE Consulting, you will:
- Frame client problems using a hypothesis-based problem solving and “80/20” driven approach.
- Effectively plan, gather, and manage data, and then use analysis to reach insights and conclusions on key issues.
- Take ownership of a work plan – own the final output through setting specific and achievable milestones, while displaying initiative to overcome obstacles and respond effectively to changes in direction.
- Create clear and impactful slides with limited direct oversight.
- Present recommendations and findings
- Build effective client relationships.
- Contribute to making PACE a rewarding and enjoyable place to work.
What you will bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Experience leading projects in a top-tier consulting firm.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. MBA desirable
- Good understanding of business improvement principles and practices
- Demonstrated ability to exercise critical thinking and challenge pre-established conceptions across a range of project types, including strategy, transformation, and business improvement.
- Experience in conducting analysis, ensuring accurate and updated data from varying sources and interpreting complex results to find key opportunities.
- Dynamic and adaptable individual who can operate in ambiguous environments.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience in mining industry (preferred but not required) with operational experience highly regarded.
