We are looking for an experienced Senior Planner to oversee the maintenance planning team and provide technical expertise to ensure the effective application of the asset management systems and processes to develop maintenance plans in alignment with business plans.

This role is a great opportunity for someone with strong technical planning/scheduling experience to lead and build the team to implement and align the way we work with the Rio Tinto work management processes and drive work management processes for site.

Working Monday to Friday and reporting to the Maintenance Planning Superintendent, you will:

  • Support changes across site in work management processes
  • Develop and coach the planning team
  • Action incoming work requests and allocate work tasks to the team.
  • Optimise equipment and resource availabilities.
  • Create annual team budgets and maintain master data records.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in a trade or engineering role in a maintenance environment or equivalent similar planning role
  • Experience with CMMS/SAP for budget development, resource levelling and related tasks
  • Strong data and risk analysis and statistics skills
  • Knowledge of asset inventory life cycles
  • A highly organised, structured & detailed approach to planning with a strong commitment to safety.
  • Excellent communication skills via all mediums with the ability to negotiate positive outcomes across multiple stakeholders.

Where you’ll be working

Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20km south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.

Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
