Aeris Resources is a base and precious metals mining company which produces Copper, Zinc, Gold and Silver from four mining operations based in Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales. The Jaguar Operation is a 1km deep underground mine producing Zinc, Copper and Silver utilising longhole open stoping with cemented rockfill mining methods.
The Company is now seeking a highly motivated Senior Planning Engineer to champion all mine planning activities for the Jaguar mine. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent you will be responsible leading the mine planning team to ensure consistent and continuous ore production from the Bentley Underground Mine and in future, other satellite projects.
The role is based at our Jaguar Operation, Leonora, WA on an 8/6, 4/3 roster or variation thereof.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Providing leadership and direction to the mine planning engineers (direct reports),
- Assist the Technical Service Superintendent and Mining Manager to set the strategic direction and expectations of production for the Bentley Underground Mine,
- Establish and maintain, a medium to long term mine plan for the underground operations, and contribute to the Ore Reserves process,
- Prepare budget and LOM mining plans and schedules,
- Prepare accurate quarterly and monthly schedules in line with the budget and LOM plans,
- Produce panel notes to ensure safe and efficient production plans are created,
- Produce cost and operationally effective mine designs that are within compliance of all applicable statutory requirements,
- Develop and maintain the Mine Planning System, including all relevant standards.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be keen to lead and mentor a small, enthusiastic team of planning engineers,
- Tertiary qualified in Mining Engineering accompanied by extensive experience in a similar role within an underground mining environment,
- Have solid exposure to various stages of an underground operation, including competencies gained in ventilation, backfill, production, scheduling and drill & blast,
- Be a proficient user of mining industry software (Deswik), including CAD and Scheduler,
- Hold a WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (desirable – not essential).
