ABOUT CANNINGTON 

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.

Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent full-time Contract) position on an 8:6 roster, Monday – Monday, FIFO from Brisbane, Townsville/Cairns, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.

As the Senior Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the translation of medium‑term mine plans into detailed, executable underground designs that are safe, value‑optimised and ready for execution.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Coordinate multi‑disciplinary inputs to deliver robust development and stope designs
• Communicate design risks, variances and stock health to planning and scheduling stakeholders
• Maintain and evolve planning standards, manuals and design practices
• Support operational teams with timely, practical and fit‑for‑purpose planning solutions

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Leading underground planning and design within complex hard‑rock environments
• Influencing technical and operational stakeholders across multiple disciplines
• Applying geotechnical and geological inputs to optimise mine design outcomes
• Using performance data to drive continuous improvement and value uplift

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Bachelor of Mining Engineering (or equivalent)
• Mining Supervisor (G1, G8, G9) qualification, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
• Current Drivers Licence
