About the role:

We are currently accepting applications for the position of ‘Senior Planning and Logistics Engineer’. This is an exceptional position for an individual looking to expand and further develop their career.  The position is based at our Wilpinjong mine, which is an open-cut operation located 40 kilometers northeast of Mudgee, producing a high-quality thermal coal for both domestic and export markets, with current approvals out to 2033.

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this diverse and challenging role is critical in championing and leading a team to successfully deliver optimised coal supply to satisfy the demands of a wide range of Domestic and Export customers.

Key areas of responsibility for this role include:

  • Leading and mentoring a team responsible for coal management from Pit to Port
  • Maintaining detailed short- and medium-term coal mining, CHPP and railing schedules to meet daily, weekly, and monthly requirements for domestic and export contracts
  • Tracking coal quantity and qualities from Pit to Port, through the mining and CHPP processing stages
  • Assist in EOM and monthly coal reconciliation processes
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to maximise operational productivity and reserves & equipment utilisation
  • Optimise efficiencies between coal quality, scheduling, shipping, and logistics operations to achieve maximised site revenue and profit

About You: Critical to your success will be:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining/Civil Engineering/Geology or comparable degree.
  • Operational site experience, desirably in an open-cut coal mine.
  • Experience in coal logistics an advantage.
  • High level of experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in development and implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives would be well regarded.
  • Excellent communication including negotiating, influencing and time management skills plus the ability to enlist help, as necessary, to deliver the required outcomes.
  • Uncompromising commitment to safety and the environment.
