Red 5 is an established and successful ASX 200 gold producer and explorer in an active expansion phase. The recent merger of equals with Silver Lake Resources has created a leading mid-tier ASX Gold producer, with three operating centres in Western Australia and one Canadian operation.

The Deflector Processing Plant produces both Gold bullion and Copper concentrate, and has recently undergone a major expansion to add a CIP circuit to the existing crushing, grinding, Gravity separation and Floatation circuits. This expansion has immediately improved recoveries to around 96% and has enabled processing of new ore sources, including the nearby Rothsay mine and multiple other targets within the Deflector tenement.

THE ROLE

Reporting to and working back to back with the Metallurgy Superintendent, you will provide technical support and leadership to the Processing team, ensuring ore recovery is maximised at all stages of Processing. You will champion safe, efficient and cost-effective ore production, guiding the Metallurgy team and Process Operators to achieve optimal production and exceed targets.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Coach and mentor Metallurgists to ensure production and metallurgical targets are met
  • Oversee the day-to-day technical results to ensure production targets are being met
  • Train and collaborate with the operations team to optimise equipment performance
  • Ensure budgeted outputs are met or exceeded
  • Seek out opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Test, review and assess new technologies
  • Oversee the laboratory’s output and error rate, reporting variances and improving workflows
  • Manage the implementation and roll out of improvement projects
  • Effective metallurgical data management and analysis
  • Coordinate with Mining and Geology departments for impacts on plant performance of new ore sources
  • Operate and Maintain fixed guage and x-ray equipment in the role of Radiation Safety officer
  • Demonstrate safety leadership and accountability in the Plant.

You can demonstrate the following qualifications, experience and characteristics;

  • Formal qualification in Metallurgy or related science
  • Demonstrated experience in a Plant Metallurgist position
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with OSA equipment
  • Fixed gauge radiation and x-ray licenses
  • Strong understanding of laboratory processes
  • Demonstrated experience in gold plant processing including crushing, grinding, flotation, gravity separation/cyanide leaching and dewatering (thickening and filtration)
  • High level of ability in Microsoft products and use of SCADA systems
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Well developed understanding of Metallurgical accounting
  • WA "C" class driver's license; and
  • Understanding of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations.
