We are looking for a Senior Port Engineer to join the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Marine Ports & Coastal Engineering team at Dampier and Cape Lambert.

Our port facilities consist of two shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our supply chain. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.

This role is a great opportunity for a Senior Engineer who has a strong background within a marine environment and an interest in leading and developing individuals.

Reporting to the Manager Marine you will be:

  • Leading the iron ore marine port & coastal team, which includes internal personnel and external contractor partners focused on delivering effective marine maintenance and channel management for RTIO ports.
  • Key member of the RTIO marine leadership team
  • Annual budget responsibility for marine assets and channel maintenance
  • Accountability for weather forecast services and metocean instrumentation operation and maintenance
  • Responsibility for marine master data and maintenance tactics improvement to deliver effective work management
  • Providing technical support and subject matter expertise to marine capital work projects
  • Channel management including hydro survey, dredging and sweep programmes
  • Internal stakeholder engagement across site operational and maintenance teams and functional teams (AMES, RTP, IS&T, Environment)
  • External stakeholder engagement with regional Harbour Masters and channel management authorities
  • Ownership of Dynamic Under Keel Clearance (DUKC) technical relationships, including associated data, systems management and marine parameters
  • Contract owner for several marine maintenance partners covering mechanical, electrical, structural, diving and marine vessels

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Engineering Degree in Civil or other related disciplines
  • Experience utilising SAP
  • Driver's Licence
  • The ability to communicate effectively, work and interact with others in a dynamic environment
  • Experience leading and managing teams in safety and technical leadership
  • Prior experience in a Port or coastal environment preferred
