Senior Process Control Engineer

Work Location: Christmas Creek. Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.

Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth

The Senior Process Control Engineer, reports to the Superintendent of Process control and is responsible for leading a small team for the day-to-day running of the process control assets, building and developing a strong team culture, and identifying areas for improvement across the PC assets, the wider team and operational management of the process control function

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work in collaboration with the departmental leadership group to implement long-term strategic technical projects within set timeframes and budgets.
  • Ensure the availability of the plant control system for production to ensure that OPF meets or exceeds business targets safely.
  • Lead the team toward achieving business KPIs
  • Assess changes to the business plan. Lead the implementation and commissioning of changes safely within the control system and document for future reference.
  • Ensure control room operators are trained and confident with changes completed in the control system.
  • Collaboratively assist other disciplines within processing operations as required

Qualification and Experience: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (electrical/instrumentation/control systems/ mechatronic or similar)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Mining / Processing Plants
  • PLC Programming (DFB, UDFB, FB, ST and SFC)
  • Control systems design experience, ideally with exposure to Rockwell, Emmerson (GE) and Schneider
  • SCADA (GE-IP Proficy CIMPLICITY)
  • Leading Highly Technical Teams
