Senior Process Engineer
Work location: Dawson Road, Perth Airport
Roster: Monday to Friday
Responsible for supporting the Manufacturing Operations team to deliver projects related to hydrogen gas processing and will be required to lead design, risk analyses and onsite install/commissioning.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all related activities are performed in accordance with Australian engineering standards, FFI policies, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environmental requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.
Key responsibilities:
- Senior process engineering technology role, support providing process technology solutions, expert advice, and technical support on process design
- Lead the design, sizing and selection of piping and pressure vessels, reactors, condensers, and gas drying systems
- Oversee the process design, simulation, heat & mass balance, process flow diagrams and any required process studies to be undertaken
- Oversee equipment sizing for process requirements, specifications, and data sheets
- Communicating and interfacing effectively with other disciplines, lead contract engineering program, and engage equipment and engineering specialist providers as required
- Assisting in building and interpreting detailed technical and economic models with the data analytics team
- Participation in specific detail design reviews and evaluations including technical safety reviews of design, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, risk analysis
- Support Manufacturing Ops Team in process improvements by optimizing equipment designs and hence improving production rates
- Prepare & Maintain Technical documentation for production processes
- Participate in the definition of action plans, training of relevant maintenance and production teams, and other support activities during the internal/external process and equipment start-up
- Work closely with Project Engineering Team to deliver project inclusive of design reviews, design signoff, equipment installation & commissioning and whilst meeting project deadlines
- Ensure processes comply with safety and quality standards
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree of Engineering, Chemistry, Process or Mechanical or equivalent study
- Industry experience in either energy power generation, industrial chemical processing, oil and gas processing, mineral processing, water treatment or projects involving renewable energy would be highly advantageous
- 8+ years’ experience designing high pressure gas or liquid gas systems
- Experienced in reactor and high-pressure piping as well as gas drying and deoxygenation
- Experience running process simulations, heat & mass balances, equipment sizing and specifications, developing PFDs and P&IDs
- Experience in Hydrogen production industry would be advantageous
- Experience in detail design reviews and evaluations including technical safety reviews of design, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, risk analysis
- Strong data management and manipulation skills, with excellent computer literacy skills
- Exposure to detailed design, construction and commissioning would be advantageous
- Candidates must be able to bring a flexible mindset, challenge traditional thinking, and be prepared to work outside of their comfort zone
- Experience working with CAD or 3D modelling
