Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Asset Management team is looking to recruit a Senior Process Engineer Fixed Plant to join the Greater Nammuldi mine operation in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

This position will provide a vital leadership role of a multi-discipline team of mechanical and process engineers and condition monitoring technicians and will be responsible for one of the largest engineering teams in the Pilbara Mining Operation portfolio.

Reporting to the Manager Fixed Plant, other responsibilities will be to:

  • Support and develop a team of multi-disciplined engineers in the delivery of process and mechanical engineering improvements and projects
  • Lead a breakdown recovery team during critical asset failures
  • Prepare site parameters for business KPI and production targets
  • Prepare and distribute operating strategies and measure conformance to plan
  • Investigate deviations from plan, including identifying and recommending solutions
  • Perform plant troubleshooting, optimisation and continuous improvement
  • Provide expert technical advice to site operations and maintenance teams
  • Be the focal point for all engineering related queries in the fixed plant setting
  • Manage team deliverables and be accountable for engineering actions and incidents
  • Recommend and implement tactics designed to support high levels of asset safety, reliability and integrity
  • Monitor and analyse the performance of our assets and analyse primary/ secondary maintenance tasks to improve asset reliability and cost 

This permanent position will be offered on a fly in, fly out roster of 8 days on, 6 days off out of Perth, Geraldton, Busselton or Albany and will suit those currently living in Perth or willing to relocate to Western Australia on a permanent basis. 

What you’ll bring

To be considered suitable applicants will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Process/Chemical Engineering or similar
  • Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary engineering teams in large scale mining operations
  • Proven experience across wet processing assets within fixed plant settings including managing tailings dam compliance
  • Knowledge of compiling fixed plant production targets and metrics
  • Radiation Safety Officer qualifications will be highly regarded
  • Experience in using PowerBi and Sharepoint
  • Experience in using SAP
  • A current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence

The Greater Nammuldi mining hub represents one of the largest and complex mining operations in Rio Tinto’s Iron Ore Operations. Located in the Pilbara, 60km west of Tom Price the site formerly known as Brockman 2, comprises twelve active pits feeding two independent plants fed by three crushers. The mine targets expit movements of more than three million tonnes per week and is a key asset in Rio Tinto’s iron ore supply chain producing the industry renowned Pilbara Blend.
