Senior Procurement Specialist

About the role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Specialist to join our Australian Supply Chain Management team, based at our Fortitude Valley office. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the scope of your role will be to ensure Peabody’s external supply network is effectively engaged to support our business needs in a way that optimises value.
Primary duties:
- understanding business procurement needs across a diverse range of goods and service categories
- supply market analysis and engagement
- strategic sourcing
- contract negotiations
- financial analysis and management reporting
- contract drafting/document management
- supply implementation
- ongoing category health monitoring
- commercial issue resolution across a procurement category portfolio
Broader value-adding activities include maintenance of SAP system controls including contracts and workflow, plus driving improvement initiatives.
The lifestyle: This position is offered on a full time basis, Monday – Friday. Peabody offers flexible work policies including hybrid office / home working arrangements and ½ day Friday.
Occasional site visits to our NSW and QLD mine sites will be required from time to time to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and execution of strategic sourcing and contract management activities.

About you:
- Minimum 5 years experience in a procurement/contract management environment within the resources, construction or heavy industrial sectors
- Solid data analysis, reporting and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
- Undergraduate degree in engineering/business/commerce/law.
- Experience in using ERP systems with preference for SAP an advantage but not essential
In addition to the above, the successful candidate will have outstanding communication skills, be a team player and have strong attention to detail.
