A truly unique opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Mine Production Engineer to join our dynamic Yandicoogina mining operations team. With cutting edge technology at your fingertips and support of the brightest minds in the industry you will guide and mentor a small technical team in order to ensure the safe development and delivery of mine productivity and cost improvement initiatives for our Yandicoogina site.

As an integral part of the operational leadership team, this role will allow you to expand your knowledge of all functions within an operational mining environment and gain invaluable experience to continue growing your operational leadership career. Reporting to the Manager Mining, you will:
- Work closely with the operations team to drive improvement projects with a specific focus on safety, productivity and asset utilisation
- Collaborate with internal partners across mining technical services, dewatering, fixed plant and mobile equipment maintenance in order to achieve the mine plan
- Provide coaching, mentoring and support to the mine planning engineers and operations teams to ensure optimisation of the mine plans
- Utilise accurate data analysis to drive cost reductions and efficiencies
- Promote a culture of safety and provide input into critical risk management and incident investigation processes.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A strong personal commitment to safety
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- A manual ‘C’ class driver’s licence
- Minimum 5 years mining experience
- Demonstrated experience in mine production or technical mining engineering roles within a large open pit mining environment
- Someone who thrives on a challenge, can think outside of the box and has a good understanding of the fundamental concepts that underpin value in the mining industry.
- Ability to lead safety & productivity improvement project work & drive improvements
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks and negotiate accordingly
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word Document, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI) and reporting and analytics skills.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Quarry manager ticket or ability to obtain one
- Prior experience with autonomous haulage systems will also be advantageous.

Located 95km north-west of Newman, Yandicoogina offers a range of fly in fly out rosters. As one of Australia's largest-producing iron ore mines; operating a fleet of autonomous trucks and drills, it generates more than 55 million tonnes of Hammersley Iron Yandi (HIY) fines each year.
Yandicoogina is known for its culture of teamwork, can-do attitude and pioneering spirit, leading the way with innovation and technological advances in autonomous operations and robotics.
