About the Role
This role is a Senior Mining Engineer in the Mine Scheduling team at the Nickel West at our Cliffs and Leinster Underground Mines. The role reports to the Superintendent Mine Scheduling, and the team is responsible for delivery of mine production plans in the monthly to two-year planning horizon across all three Nickel West mines. The roster is hybrid FIFO and Perth based on a 5:2 (site) / 4:3 (Perth) flexible working roster. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a truly challenging role that will stretch your technical ability in a diverse mining business.
This role is accountable for design and scheduling required for mining operations from 1 month to 2 year planning horizon. The successful candidate will work closely with the various mine operations team to ensure production plans supplied are robust, practical, and executable.
The Senior Production Planning Engineer will review production performance to ensure compliance to plan is achieved. You will work closely with all departments of the Mining technical and Operational teams, and the Perth based Planning and Technical Team to deliver results and work in a collaborative manner, to add value to the overall business.

In addition, the following skills and experience will be highly regarded:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
- Extensive knowledge of mining methods and practices in underground mining, including knowledge in the fields of production, ventilation, projects, paste fill, planning and scheduling
- Experience in block caving, sublevel caving and open stoping mining methods is highly desirable
- Mine planning technical skills, including mine design and mine scheduling experience
- Mine Design and Scheduling software experience including Deswik, Alastri, Spry, or Vulcan are highly desirable
- Report and presentation skills are essential
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
Location
Nickel West operations currently has 3 operating mines, Mt Keith, Cliffs and Leinster. Operations are located approximately 375km north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
Nickel West Cliffs is located approximately 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. Cliffs underground Nickel Mine is an integral part of Nickel West Leinster comprising of a nickel concentrator and dryer, located 12 kilometres south of Nickel West Mt Keith. Employees at Cliffs reside at the Mt Keith village, There’s plenty to keep you entertained in the Mt Keith Village. Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate.
