About the Role

The Nickel West’s Planning & Technical team is accountable for all the Resource Engineering related disciplines of the Nickel West value chain, including Geoscience, Mine Planning, Geotechnical Engineering, Water & Closure Planning and Studies.  

Reporting to the Production Planning Superintendent, the Senior Engineer Production Planning plays an integral role in leading the team of engineers responsible for delivering mine plans and mine designs within the 1-Month to 2-Years horizon (inclusive of yearly Budget) for open-cut mines, ensuring alignment with the strategic plans. 

In this pivotal leadership role, you will draw upon your excellent technical and stakeholder engagement skills to foster effective and mutually beneficial relationships with key Operational leaders and professionals across the business. Your experience managing teams in a complex multi-faceted environment will be key to your success as you influence a positive, productive, and collaborative team environment. You will work closely with the various mine operations teams to ensure production plans supplied are robust, practical, and executable. You will work collaboratively with your operational and short term planning peers to achieve great compliance to plan, as well as supporting with short term deviation management.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic, driven and output focused individual with highly developed written and verbal communication skills. You will have demonstrated success in building effective and collaborative Business partnerships with diverse stakeholder groups to delivery positive business outcomes.

In addition, the following skills and experience will be highly regarded:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering (or related discipline coupled with the right experience)
  • Experience in Open Cut mining operations
  • Experience in mine planning/scheduling, combined with report and presentation skills essential
  • Experience in mine design and scheduling software (Preferably Deswik)

Location

Nickel West Mt Keith is located 460 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in the Northern Goldfields.  Nickel West Mt Keith is a surface mining operation with multiple open pits and a concentrator plant.  The operation is surrounded by pastoral stations, with the nearest townships being Leinster and Wiluna.  There’s plenty to keep you entertained in the Mt Keith Village. Take the heat off the day and head to the pool – or join in any number of social activities. Employees commute to and from Perth on a fly in / fly out roster or form regional areas on a drive in / drive out roster.
