Senior Project Scheduler

Newmont is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Project Scheduler to oversee the planning and execution of the Cadia Integrated Tailings Project – a significant portfolio program of civil works execution; to safely deliver a major upgrade of the Tailings Dam for Australia’s largest gold mine at Cadia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating comprehensive project plans, developing budgets and schedules, and coordinating with project stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation within specified timeframes and budgets.
This long-term contract position (2+ years) will be offered either as a full time 5/2 roster (Mon-Fri) to Orange NSW regional residents, or as a 12/9 roster for FIFO / DIDO workers.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Responsibility for project controls development, resources and outputs including scoping, time estimating, scheduling, progress assessment, forecasting, change control and reporting.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to determine project requirements, scope, timelines, strategies and objectives
- Create comprehensive project plans, outlining project scope, deliverables, timelines, and budget requirements. Develop and maintain project plans, tracking project actual and earned value and ensuring that projects are completed within budgetary constraints.
- Manage planning outputs for the project including resourcing, staffing, equipment, and materials, to ensure that all project requirements are met.
- Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring that all key interfaces and deadlines are communicated, and project timeline expectations are adhered to
- Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and keep projects on track. Support third party/independent project reviews.
- Communicate project status and progress to project stakeholders, ensuring that all parties are informed and aligned throughout the project lifecycle
- Identify and lead resolution of opportunities for improvement across the project from WHSE, Construction to planning and project controlling aspects
- Provide insights by way of cost, schedule, progress, commercial and change control that informs strategic and managerial decision making throughout the project.
- Ensure project development is undertaken in accordance with Newcrest Gold Book and PMS requirements – including reporting.
The Senior Project Scheduler will play a critical role in ensuring the success of the project. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale projects, strong project management skills, and excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
You will also possess the following:
- Significant demonstrable experience in civil construction project planning at senior level; across numerous large-scale projects (infrastructure, roads construction, bulk earthworks or dam projects) - essential
- Relevant construction / engineering / project management qualifications (civil / mining / geotechnical) – advantageous, but not essential
- Expert-level proficiency using project management software and tools, including scheduling software (Primavera & MS project, Excel) and development of project management dashboards for project reporting.
- Working knowledge for estimating, cost control, schedule, progress, contracts formation, tendering, package evaluation and administration
- Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to develop and manage project schedules and budgets. Proven commercial acumen including planning and reporting on progress, cost and risk.
