Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for
Reporting to the Project Engineering Lead, the Senior Projects Engineer will provide Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) & Project Engineering expertise to the successful planning and execution of Projects in approved Capital Budget / Projects Pipeline from Initiation through to Close-out.
You will work closely with the Project Engineering Lead and Superintendent - Projects to provide Project Engineering and Management governance and technical advice on SMP aspects, for all assigned projects in Portfolio (site-based and corporate).
The Senior Projects Engineer will ensure all works conducted under contractual conditions are managed within the terms of the contract, working closely with the Cadia Procurement and Corporate Supply and Logistics team from Procurement Planning through to market engagement, contract award and finally Contract Close-out.
Additional responsibilities include:
- This role is expected to contribute to the successful planning and safe delivery of projects, meeting key stakeholder requirements, scope, quality, schedule and budget expectations.
- Provide support to the Project Supervision and Project Engineering team to proactively manage contractors to ensure compliance with Cadia Safety, Hygiene, Risk, Environmental, Community, Engineering.
- Lead & participate in key Project Assurance reviews such as Design Reviews, Hazard Studies, Risk Assessments and ensuring Safety in Design principals are applied and integrated from the start and subjected to Change Management as required.
- Demonstrate NewSafe Safety Leadership in planning/conducting works in the field, working closely with contractors to ensure we identify and integrate the required Critical Controls Management for all High Risk Tasks (HRT), Major Hazards and associated site works and ensure controls are effective.
- Tracking and Reporting on Project Performance requirements as stipulated in the Projects Reporting Calendar and monitor performance and reporting in accordance.
- Effectively communicate and engage with the rest of the Cadia Projects team and key internal and external stakeholders reporting on Project Progress, Safety, NewSafe interactions, areas for improvement and risk mitigation opportunities across multiple work fronts.
- Develop, engage, plan and provide support to Construction Supervision team, vendors and contractors to ensure effective coordination of project works with key Operational Interfaces, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules
- Ensuring the project approved baselines is subjected to timely Change Management and all changes are documented/recorded and assessed in accordance.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading projects involving Design, Installation, Construction Verification, Commissioning and Maintenance/Operation of Process, SMP and related systems.
You will also possess the following:
- Engineering degree (B.Eng) in Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural or equivalent
- Project Management qualification and Professional Certification preferred
- Significant experience across Resources and/or Heavy Industries, with demonstrated roles held in a Senior Project Engineering capacity
- Extensive experience/exposure to multi-disciplined Major or Sustaining Capital projects
- Competency with the Microsoft office suite of products.
- Good understanding of/application of Project Controls software e.g. SAP, MS Project, Primavera
Please note: This is a 5/2 (9 hours per day) or 9 days per fortnight (10 hours per day) residential role in Orange, NSW.
