About the role
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Senior Projects/Ventilation Engineer will mentor the Production Engineering team, participate in creation of short to medium term mine plans, and contribute to operational strategy while ensuing best-practise service is provided to the mining operations team.  Project works will include, in conjunction with the Technical Services Superintendent and the Mining Manager, the generation of project ideas and the management of the day-to-day activities of project work being conducted underground, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.  This involves striving for operational excellence prioritising safety, compliance to legislation, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  
  • Actively participate in pre-shift meetings,
  • Provide effective coaching, training, and mentoring to the Production and Planning Engineering team,
  • Manage the planning and implementation of projects relating to installation and maintenance of mine infrastructure, continuous improvement, and innovation and digitisation.
  • Manage projects relating to underground development and production seeking to improve the productivity/quality of these activities,
  • Management of any contractors engaged to complete project work for the mining operations or technical services team,
  • Prepare and report on business cases,
  • Identify and investigate production bottlenecks and implement methods to improve productivity,
  • Management of documentation, processes and templates within the Production team including Drill and Blast Design Standards, Stope Notes and Stope Reconciliations,
  • Hold the statutory position of Underground Ventilation Officer and perform the legislated functions of that role,
  • Oversee the completion primary and secondary ventilation surveys including analysis of data and manage the implementation of any improvements and recommendations,
  • Update and maintain the mine ventilation model,
  • Update and maintain the Ventilation Management Plan,
  • Lead the development of Life of Mine Ventilation plans,
  • Generate solutions to address challenges in existing workflow practises and procedures.

 
About You
  • A will to make a difference, positively impacting the operation while bringing and an element of fun to our team,
  • Degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent),
  • Experience working at an underground metalliferous mine as a Mining Engineer,
  • A strong sense of urgency,
  • A flexible approach to a dynamic production environment,
  • Strong problem solving, organisational and time management skills,
  • Innovative thinking, business acumen and mining technical knowledge applied to various challenges,
  • Experience using Deswik and Microsoft Office suite,
  • Exceptional communication skills including interpersonal, negotiation, influencing, verbal and written.
  • Enthusiasm, commitment, and self-direction.

The Operation
Jaguar Operations is an established underground zinc, copper, gold and silver mining operation located 65km north of Leonora in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia. It was acquired by Aeris Resources in July 2022.  The Jaguar Operations tenement package spans a 410km2 area and hosts multiple favourable stratigraphic horizons along a 50km corridor.
  
Operations include an underground mine at the Bentley deposit utilising open stoping methods and a 600ktpa processing plant producing copper and zinc concentrates with precious metals by-products. Concentrates are trucked to the Geraldton for export to customers internationally.
