Position: Senior Regional Accountant

Work Location:  Perth - Bennett St 

  • Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday to Friday 

In this role, you will be a key member of the finance team within the Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) Green Energy business unit. You will be responsible for financial accounting and governance for FFI entities in global locations, working closely with regional management. You will be part of a newly-formed, dynamic and exciting team supporting the global energy transition. To be successful in this role, you will need to be a quick but critical thinker, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform the month-end financial statement close process for multiple global business units, including preparation of high-quality balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of robust and timely financial and management reporting to stakeholders, including provision of insightful analytical commentary
  • Take ownership for ensuring the accuracy of the accounting in accordance with Group Accounting Policies under IFRS
  • Develop and oversee a robust framework of financial controls, including identification of process improvement initiatives
  • Participate in the quarterly and annual forecasting processes for multiple global business units
  • Manage the cash forecasting process for multiple global business units
  • Mentor junior team members and review deliverables, as required
  • Actively promote a safe working environment

Qualifications and experience

  • A tertiary degree in accounting, with CA or CPA qualification
  • Excellent understanding of IFRS requirements and proven experience (~5-7 years) in an accounting role at a global and fast-paced organisation, preferably in energy or manufacturing industries
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise financial planning and reporting systems, with SAP, Anaplan and Power BI experience highly desirable
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines. Flexibility is required to work across multiple time zones
  • Working knowledge of the Australian power market will be highly regarded
