In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key projects is the Infinity Train which will harness gravitational energy and utilise regenerative battery electric technology to remove reliance on charging infrastructure. The Infinity Train project will contribute to FFI becoming a major OEM in the growing global market for green industrial transport solutions. Based out of our new Hazelmere R&D facility and reporting to the green fleet development Principal - Integration, we are presently looking for an experienced Requirements Engineer.
Key accountabilities will include:

Implement and maintain the Requirements Management processes across the engineering and development team for the Infinity Train projects

Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and generate quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.

Guide Engineers creating and maintaining requirements traceability links between the System Specification, Sub System Specifications, and associated Verification activities. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.

Assist Systems Engineers defining, managing, and maintaining Interface Control Documents and performance requirements for system and sub-system designs.

Perform specification and design reviews and participate in FMEA reviews.

Analyse and resolve deficiencies and conflicts in product requirements, ensuring the completeness, consistency, quality, and traceability of product requirements.

Establish processes to track and report on the overall status of compliance against the original Specification requirements.

Baseline requirement releases and ensure change control process is adhered to.

Develop and maintain the Requirements Acceptance Management Plan (RAMP) if applicable and ensure Engineers execute tasks and activities to that plan.

Train and guide staff in best practice for requirements engineering.
Qualifications and skills required:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.

Solid understanding and knowledge of Requirements Management principles and processes and how to implement and maintain requirements on a complex program.

Experience on complex rail projects is highly desirable.

Excellent interpersonal skills, especially being able to guide and influence people you do not directly manage and being able to provide sound advice to senior management.
