Senior Software Developer
Location: Perth – Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
Reporting to the Product Lead – Integrated Planning, the Senior Software Developer (Full Stack & AI Enablement) is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining enterprise software solutions that support Fortescue's operational and business systems.
Working closely with product managers, business stakeholders, data engineers and software developers, you will deliver modern, scalable applications while driving the adoption of AI-assisted software development practices across the team. You will play a key role in ensuring AI technologies are effectively integrated into both our development processes and business solutions, while supporting the ongoing sustainability of enterprise AI platforms delivered into the team.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain modern full-stack applications using enterprise software engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain APIs, integrations and cloud-native services that support enterprise applications and operational systems.
- Contribute to software architecture, solution design and technical standards across multiple products.
- Lead code reviews, mentor developers and promote high standards of software quality, testing and maintainability.
- Drive the adoption of AI-assisted software development tools and practices, helping improve developer productivity and software delivery across the team.
- Support and enhance AI-enabled business solutions by integrating approved enterprise AI services into existing and new applications where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to automate business processes and improve user experiences through practical use of AI technologies.
- Work closely with data, cloud and AI specialists to ensure solutions remain secure, scalable and aligned with enterprise architecture and governance.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements that increase operational efficiency and deliver long-term business value.
- Support the ongoing maintenance, enhancement and sustainability of enterprise AI platforms and solutions transitioned into the team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience developing enterprise software applications using modern full-stack development practices.
- Strong experience designing and building scalable web applications, APIs and cloud-native solutions.
- Experience working with modern front-end and back-end technologies across enterprise environments.
- Experience working with relational databases, cloud platforms and software integration patterns.
- Experience using Git-based source control and modern CI/CD practices.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring developers and contributing to technical leadership within Agile teams.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or similar technologies to improve software delivery.
- Experience integrating enterprise AI services into software applications is desirable.
- Experience within mining, resources, logistics or other operational industries is advantageous.
