The Strategic Production Planning (SPP) team in Rio Tinto Iron Ore, is accountable for evaluating key strategic and capital investment decisions, including understanding, and identifying the best expansion paths, product strategies and value impact of new mine projects and other developments. The team owns a set of processes and tools which are used as key enablers to critical decision-makings in these areas.

We are seeking a Senior advisor to join the SPP Systems team to contribute to reshaping and transforming the SPP toolsets into a future proof planning solution to address evolving business complexity Reporting to Principal SPP Systems, you will be responsibility for:
- Maintaining and enhancing the in-house developed mineral inventory management tool
- Building in-house databases to store SPP mineral inventory data, planning parameters and scenarios
- Contributing to the design, implementation and maintenance of the future SPP Solution
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, it is essential that you demonstrate:
- Sound SQL and database management skills
- Full-stack Web Application development skills and experiences – preferrable Flask Python and Vue.js
- Python or C#.net programming experiences in developing Enterprise software
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative and team approach to work
- The can-do attitude and critical thinking capability
Whilst the following would be highly regarded:
- Experiences in VBA with Excel
- Operations Research/Linear Programming
- Experiences in the mining industry – Geology/ Mining Engineering/Process Engineering/Metallurgy

Where you’ll be working
This role will be based in the Perth, Western Australia at the Central Park office with ad hoc site travel.
