Title: Senior Software Test Engineer

Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)

Roster: 5/2 roster

In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet, rail locomotive and marine vessel.

Based at our new Hazelmere R&D facility, we are looking for an experienced Senior Software Test Engineer to work on a dynamic range of Green Fleet Development projects.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Report to the Principal Embedded Systems and work on the Green Fleet Rail Locomotive projects that help decarbonise the Heavy Haul Rail industry
  • Work in close conjunction with other engineering disciplines and the project management team in a V-Model product development framework
  • Work in the Model-Based Design workflow with Matlab/Simulink as the core development package
  • Establish the frameworks and workflows for the software verification and validation process, i.e. Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL)
  • Develop test cases and test codes to test the control systems software against to the requirements
  • Develop automated testing procedures utilising Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) tools
  • Develop test report and report software bugs back to the developers
  • Responsible for the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test bench operation and run test sequence with the controller under test
  • Reponsible to plan and setup the data loggers for field testing
  • Assist with software requirements definition
  • Conduct calibration and diagnostic for embedded controller during testing
  • Grow the capability of software testing in the team and mentor young engineers

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering degree
  • 10+ years experience in embedded software development or testing in the product development area
  • Experience with embedded C, C++ and familiar with MISRA C standard is highly advantageous
  • Experience with GitHub, Confluence/Jira is highly advantageous
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (i.e. Jenkins) is highly advantageous
  • Experience with Model-Based development with Matlab/Simulink (Simulink Test) is highly advantageous
  • Experience with V-Model development and ASPICE process is highly advantageous
  • Experience with Requirement Management tools (i.e. DOORS, Polarion) is highly advantageous
  • Experience with HIL hardware and software (i.e. Speedgoat, dSpace, Vector) is highly advantageous
  • Experience with Functional Safety standards (i.e. IEC61508, ISO26262, EN50128) is highly advantageous
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams
  • Strong, effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn fast and adapt to an environment with dynamic process and program requirements
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
