Position Title: Senior Specialist Category Management
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: 5:2 - Monday to Friday
As part of the plant processing category team, this role will support the procurement of equipment and materials for operational projects across Fortescue's sites. This will include developing procurement strategies for key infrastructure required to decarbonise Fortescue's mining operations.
The successful candidate will also play a leadership role within the plant processing category team and support other fixed plant categories from time to time.
The role would suit someone with operational and project procurement experience who is capable of working with a high level of autonomy and is motivated to drive optimal commercial outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development of category strategies and execution of end-to-end sourcing processes.
- Development and execution of negotiation strategies for high value / high risk contracts.
- Providing strategic commercial and contractual advice ("procurement support") to the operational projects leadership and ensuring that procurement activities are scoped and managed through project development and execution.
- Leading contract management and supplier relationship management (SRM) activities to drive value and ensure strong working relationships are maintained with key suppliers.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to category officers and specialists within the plant processing team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated alignment to all of Fortescue's values.
- Experience in heavy industry operational and project procurement environments, preferably including equipment supply and materials categories.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and interface with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to draft concise strategies and recommendations.
- Experience leading and mentoring team members.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, business, engineering, commerce or supply chain-related fields are desirable.
