About this role
We are looking for a Senior Advisor Cost Control to join our Modern ERP Program.
Responsible for ensuring project financial performance by managing budgets, forecasts, and cost controls. This includes monitoring variances, supporting change and risk management, and allocating resources effectively. The role also involves producing financial reports, liaising with stakeholders and vendors, and ensuring compliance with standardized systems and procedures.

What you’ll be doing
Develop and maintain project forecasts, budgets, and financial reports
Support cost control structures, including budgeting and cost centre allocation
Monitor and analyse cost variances, recommending corrective actions
Generate and maintain cost reports, cost curves, and financial dashboards
Support Final Forecast Cost (FFC) updates, including risk and contingency inputs
Assess the financial impact of scope changes and update forecasts and budgets
Oversee third‑party vendor and contractor cost management
Ensure compliance with standardised financial processes, tools, and systems
What you’ll bring
Proven experience in financial management within large, complex, multinational environments
Demonstrated ability to manage costs and budgets, ideally within IT or ERP programs
Strong capability to analyse complex financial data and drive informed decisions
Solid understanding of project management principles and financial controls
Experience supporting forecasting, cost reporting, and variance analysis
Strong stakeholder management skills across internal and external partners
High attention to detail with strong governance and compliance focus
A proactive mindset with the ability to identify risks and improvement opportunities

Where you’ll be working
You’ll join the Modern ERP Program within our Group Finance function — a multi‑disciplinary team bringing together technology, process, data and change specialists to reshape how work happens across Rio Tinto. We’re modernising a 20‑year‑old ERP system and redesigning core business processes to improve safety, efficiency and innovation.
This work will make it easier for people across our global operations to spend less time on transactional tasks and more time on the work that really matters. By simplifying and digitising how the organisation runs, the Modern ERP Program is creating the foundation for future productivity gains, smarter decision‑making and AI‑enabled transformation across the business
