About the Role

We are currently looking to build our team; we have multiple fulltime permanent positions available. Reporting to the Superintendent Analytics / Superintendent Studies the roles of Specialist and Senior Specialist are on offer.

You will be based out of our Perth Office with a hybrid working arrangement with the option to work partially from home

Your primary focus will be to build and maintain a mature workbench of analytical tools to turn around questions in a timely manner and you will work within a team of supply chain experts. This is an opportunity to join a high performing team, working on interesting and high impact problems.

Maximise value for BHP Iron Ore by:

  • Leveraging the dynamic simulation model and various analytical tools and techniques to answer complex supply chain questions;
  • Valuing the throughput impact of productivity and minor capital initiatives;
  • Providing support to the five-year planning process;
  • Constructing analytics solutions;
  • Producing analysis outputs;
  • Supporting Model Development and benchmarking activities;
  • Fostering a culture of innovation – and look for innovative opportunities to increase the value SCP provides.

About You

You are a self-starter who wants to make an impact and can prioritise their daily tasks. You have an analytical mind and the ability to build strong relationships with your peers, stakeholders, and subordinates alike. 

As a strong candidate, you will ideally have:

  • Data Analysis experience across various analysis approaches (more than 2 years);
  • Experience working with large data sets;
  • Advanced experience with discrete event simulation / agent-based simulation preferable AnyLogic;
  • Experience with R/Python, SQL desirable;
  • Understanding of the mining operations and mining practices;
  • Capable of working unsupervised and managing time effectively;
  • Valid Australian C class driver's license.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in mathematical/computer science (e.g., computer science, engineering, science, mathematics, physics, finance, operations research);
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage with diverse audiences and be persuasive;
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment;
  • Ability to work within a team to achieve outcomes;
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make pragmatic decisions;
  • Advanced knowledge of R/Python.
