Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for  

The Senior Specialist – Risk will provide risk management support to Cadia Valley Operations encompassing all work areas, projects, and associated support functions. The role will facilitate existing risk management systems and processes and maintain and manage the site risk information base including the site risk registers.

You will also provide specialist risk assessment facilitation, advice, and support. In addition, deliver training and coaching on risk systems and processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate annual Management review of the site risk profile and risk registers.
  • Coach and mentor risk owners and control owners of material risks
  • Input to crisis response and contingency planning for material risk events
  • Project manage rollout of risk management system enhancements.
  • Perform change management for changes to risk management systems and processes.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to control owners on control effectiveness and improvement.
  • Conduct field verification checks and performance reviews on critical controls as part of Material Risk Assurance programme.
  • Review and analyse risk assessment data and information to ensure risk is well managed.
  • Validate that risk reduction actions and/or improvement actions are closed.
  • Compile and deliver monthly reports to Management on risk profile, risk metrics and action status.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to act with discretion and treat confidential information appropriately.

You will also possess the following: 

  • Formal technical degree qualification in engineering or sciences with a focus on enterprise risk management.
  • Exposure to risk management practices and contributing to the development and implementation of effective systems and processes for risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying a broad range of structured risk assessment techniques and tools.
  • Mining or heavy industry experience
