About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior SAP Solution Development Specialist to join Rio Tinto's Modern ERP program in Brisbane. This role will play a critical part in driving the development, migration and governance of SAP solutions as we transition from ECC to SAP S/4HANA.
Working closely with architects, delivery teams and strategic implementation partners, you will lead solution development activities, ensure compliance with our principles and help deliver scalable, high-quality solutions that support Rio Tinto's global operations.
This is an opportunity to work on a complex, large-scale transformation program and influence how SAP development standards are applied across a global organisation.
What you'll be doing
Steer the design, development and remediation of SAP custom objects within an SAP S/4HANA environment
Champion SAP Clean Core principles and ensure all development aligns with enterprise standards and governance requirements
Provide technical leadership and guidance across multiple business workstreams
Review and assure solutions delivered by implementation partners to ensure compliance and quality
Collaborate with architects, delivery teams and business stakeholders to define and deliver solutions
Contribute to solution estimation, planning and technical decision-making across development initiatives
Support testing, deployment, stabilisation and continuous improvement activities throughout the solution lifecycle
Drive the adoption of modern SAP development tools and technologies including Eclipse ADT, SAP Business Application Studio, UI5 and Fiori
What you'll bring
Extensive SAP development experience, ideally gained within large-scale SAP transformation programs
Strong ABAP development expertise and deep understanding of SAP development best practices
Proven experience delivering solutions within SAP S/4HANA environments, including ECC to S/4HANA migration programs
Hands-on experience with Eclipse ADT, SAP Business Application Studio (BAS), SAP UI5 and Fiori development
Strong understanding of SAP governance, architecture standards and Clean Core strategy
Ability to work independently, influence stakeholders and provide technical leadership without direct people management responsibilities
Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills, with experience partnering across technical and business teams
