About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Strategic Mine Planning Engineer to join the team at Olympic Dam. Reporting to the Superintendent Strategic Mine Planning, this team’s purpose is to unlock value through the development of resource engineering options, strategic asset planning, provision of mining and metallurgical technical direction and applying industry leading solutions to strategic problems.
In this role, you will be central in shaping the future growth at Olympic Dam Mine and Oak Dam exploration target through optimisation of strategic mine plans, adoption of technology, and development of underpinning assumptions and risks into major growth projects.
This role offers a great challenge within a multi-commodity mine, offering exposure to the broader business. In this role you will work within a function that spans the whole of Olympic Dam, enabling you to share best practice in planning and work in partnership with engineering teams.
This position is based in our Adelaide office on a Monday to Friday with flexible work arrangements. In this role, you will:
- Develop executable, strategic mine designs considering safety, technology, infrastructure, sequencing and system constraints.
- Identify and plan for competitive advantage within Olympic Dam’s value chain from resource to mill.
- Support the Competent Person with evaluation and reporting of Ore Reserves.
- Provide mining engineering input, contributing to high quality delivery of Growth Projects.
- Plan strategies, designs and schedule for the Life of Asset.
About You
As a collaborative engineer, you can shape the future of this exciting resource. You will have:
- Ideally a tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline (e.g. Civil/Mining/Geotechnical), however others, who have demonstrated experience in previous mine planning roles will be considered.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mine planning and underground operations.
- Expertise in underground hard rock mining operations, including materials handling across multiple mining methods.
- Mine planning experience in complex orebodies.
- Commercial acumen and demonstrated ability to understand business drivers.
- Interest in economic modelling and business analysis of minerals assets.
- A deep understanding of how mine planning inputs are integrated into business decisions.
- Proficiency in Deswik (desirable).
