Senior Structural Engineer – Engineering Studies and Projects
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue Centre - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: 5:2 (Monday to Friday) (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)
A fantastic opportunity for a mid to senior-level Structural Engineer to join our Engineering and design team to assist in growing the design team's Structural Engineering capabilities and produce consistent, high-quality designs for our site stakeholders.
This role will initially be offered as a 12-month fixed term position, to support our operations and projects teams.
Key Accountabilities:
- Undertaking design of structures to support studies and major projects teams
- Performing design checks on existing structures to confirm adequacy for new operational and project requirements.
- Providing other structural engineering support to operational teams as may be required.
- Peer review of calculations and other technical advice produced by internal peers.
- Assisting with continual improvement of Fortescue’s documented Procedures, Engineering Standards and Equipment Specifications to provide pragmatic best for business guidance to all Fortescue stakeholders.
- Providing safety leadership to effectively identify and manage technical risks across Fortescue.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- 5+ years of experience as a qualified Civil/Structural Engineer with experience designing industrial mining structures. (Candidates with NER and or Chartered Status would be highly regarded).
- Prior experience with material handling plant design. Strong experience with SpaceGass.
- Prior experience with bin and chute design. Prior experience with Strand 7 desirable.
- Bachelor of Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent, also strong conceptual thinking and analytical focus
- Knowledge of relevant mines legislations and regulations
- Planning, organisational, budgeting, scheduling and coordination skills, with excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus
