Senior Supply Analyst

Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Role overview:

The Sales and Marketing function at Fortescue is responsible for developing and implementing Fortescue’s marketing strategy, coordinating, and supporting regional sales offices, negotiating iron ore prices and commercial agreements, managing ongoing scheduling, and conducting market analysis.
The industry analysis function within marketing is responsible for reporting on underlying market conditions and the development of analysis which supports our strategy and business decisions.

We are seeking a senior supply analyst, based in Perth, who will report to the Manager Industry and Market Analysis. The senior analyst will be responsible for the development and maintenance of Fortescue’s global supply outlook and identifying improvements in market intelligence helping understand competitor products and commercial strategy. Developing a sound understanding of competitor’s costs and the value in use of competitor products to steel mills globally.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Develop and maintain iron ore supply models which provide insight into competitor strategy, volume, product and costs.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly budget packs and market outlooks, executive briefings, and strategy papers.
  • Deliver timely market and project financial analyses to evaluate the attractiveness of business opportunities and competitor announcements.
  • Development and management of market reports and dashboards which support the dissemination of market analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders both internal and external. Internal stakeholders will include the broader sales and marketing, strategy and operations teams with external stakeholders including consultants, banks, customers, and industry experts.

Qualification and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, economics, engineering, or related disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of iron ore market dynamics and industry experience.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience preparing reports for senior leadership
  • Expert knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint with some experience in the use of tableau and power BI
  • Minimum experience of +5 years of modelling and analysis in a consulting or corporate work environment, focussed on commodities.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
