Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut mine. It is then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and is shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.

We are currently seeking a Senior Mine Surveyor to join our Mining Technical Services team. You will have access to the latest and greatest in UAV and laser scanner technology to provide accurate and timely surveying services to the mine and surface operations.

Reporting to the Superintendent – Technical Services, you will be responsible for:

• Leading the MRM survey team to provide safe and effective delivery of survey services to the mine and surface operations
• Managing the survey support function with daily operations including survey pickups, setting out designs, setting up survey controls to ensure production targets are met
• Ensuring the safe storage and operation of survey equipment
• Accurately managing survey database and GPS Base Station System
• Managing the operational finances for the survey function
• Developing and managing effective execution of survey projects
• Developing and implementing continuous improvement of the survey function

The role is FIFO from Darwin, working 8 days on and 6 days off. You are a good fit with this role if you:

• Hold a formal qualification in surveying

• Experience in leading and managing a team of professionals

• Have demonstrated experience using mining software (preferably Vulcan, i-Site and Pix 4D).

• Have experience with UAV and hold a RePL (highly regarded).

• Are a registered Surveyor (preferred), or capable and willing to acquire.

• Have a proactive and self-motivated attitude.

• Your commitment to safety is second to none.
