The business employs over 2500 people from five operations across Western Australia comprising of nickel underground and open-cut mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery. About the Role
We are seeking a talented Mining Professional to join our inclusive and high performing team responsible for providing directional guidance to the business by engaging in and supporting underground mine planning activities encompassing mine design, mine scheduling and infrastructure requirements whilst providing practical solutions to technical and operational challenges while accounting for uncertainty and risk.
In addition, the role will require cross-collaborative engagement to develop and implement processes that provide clear objectives, technical rigor and direction to the mining team. This diverse range of work will see you positively influence business decisions and will require a focus on delivering value, clear decision-making skills and technical excellence.
About You
We have a strong focus on finding individuals with the right values, leadership capability, and communication skills. Your interpersonal skills will foster strong working relationships across our Geoscience, Engineering, Studies and Operational teams. In addition to demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyse information, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude. The ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and organisational levels to create buy-in and influence outcomes will be highly regarded.
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
- Extensive underground mining experience with knowledge in the fields of production, ventilation, projects, planning and scheduling.
- Experience in underground bulk mining methods is desirable.
- Capability with mine planning and scheduling software
- Experience in Deswik Mine planning software is desirable.
- Current Drivers Licence
Location
Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate. The Leinster Village and Township offer a unique lifestyle with all the modern conveniences – an Olympic size swimming pool, health and fitness centre, race-course and even an 18 hole golf course.
