The Gwalia Gold Mine is located three kilometres south of the town of Leonora, Western Australia, and has been a flagship asset for our client St Barbara for the past 15 years. Macmahon is proud to be able to deliver a whole of mine service including mine development, ground support, production drilling and blasting, loading and trucking, shotcreting and paste fill reticulation from May 2021. The Gwalia mine is the cornerstone of Leonora operations and has strong margins supported by good grades and a focus on costs and returns. The site has a track record of continuous improvement, with a recently upgraded mine ventilation system, and a previous significant upgrade of the accommodation village that incorporated a number of energy efficient and environmentally friendly initiatives.

The Macmahon Underground team is seeking a Service Crew - Paste to work FIFO on a 2/2 roster.

Key responsibilities:

Maintain and repair services and equipment such as vent bags, poly pipe and valves
Pump and cable installation and movements
Secondary fan moves & installations
Air leg operation
Experienced underground in the following; integrated tool carriers operation, light vehicle operation and installation of steel pipework underground
Hand installation and grouting of cable bolts
Paste running
Installation and removal of paste pipes
Substantial knowledge of underground practices 
Assisting other underground roles as required
Installation of underground infrastructure

Essential requirements: 

Must be based in Perth
Previous experience working underground 
Current manual Drivers licence
Self-motivated and energetic
Sound planning and organisational skills


Successful applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol screen as well as obtain a National Police Clearance.
