The Gwalia Gold Mine is located three kilometres south of the town of Leonora, Western Australia, and has been a flagship asset for our client St Barbara for the past 15 years. Macmahon is proud to be able to deliver a whole of mine service including mine development, ground support, production drilling and blasting, loading and trucking, shotcreting and paste fill reticulation from May 2021.
The Gwalia mine is the cornerstone of Leonora operations and has strong margins supported by good grades and a focus on costs and returns. The site has a track record of continuous improvement, with a recently upgraded mine ventilation system, and a previous significant upgrade of the accommodation village that incorporated a number of energy efficient and environmentally friendly initiatives.
The Macmahon Underground team is seeking experienced Servicepersons to work FIFO on a 2/2 even time roster available from Perth to project site.
Key responsibilities:
Service and maintain all mobile plant - Trucks, graders, loaders, jumbos, etc
Assist Heavy Duty Fitters to service and maintain all mobile plant either on site (underground) or in maintenance bay/workshop
Operate service vehicles - pull out hose reels for fuel, grease, water and oils from vehicles or fixed infrastructure (against resistance between waist and shoulder height)
Maintain and service fixed underground infrastructure
Climb over the machinery to access and check all grease points, fluid levels and access refilling points
To be successful you must be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Previous mechanical experience working underground on heavy mining equipment
Be able to operate a light vehicle in an underground environment
The ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team
Able to follow and adhere to procedures and compliance standards
Time management skills
A demonstrated commitment to safety
Successful applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol screen as well as obtain a National Police Clearance.
