We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to join our team as a Shutdown / Classified Plant Coordinator.
This role is critical in providing leadership to the teams and Task Owners in Rolling Stock Maintenance. Shutdown execution is expected to take ownership of all activities pre, during, and post-execution to deliver safe and efficient work execution within budget. Classified Plant management involves effectively managing all rail classified plant and safety on site, and ensuring the documenting of equipment & capturing the current condition in an effective maintenance plan.

Reporting to the Plant and Automation Superintendent, working a 9-day fortnight, Duties will include:
Shut Coordination -
- Working closely with Planners, Supervisors, fixed plant and Machine Shop teams, and our contractor partners to support and coordinate pre and post-shut activities – job scoping and methodology, material/parts management both pre and post-shut, shut org charts, isolation, and permit plans, scaffold and crane requirements, laydown/staging areas, tooling and consumables, clean-up and commissioning.
- Accountability for management of contractors in shutdowns, and coordinating all tasks pre, post, and during shutdowns to QA/QC requirements.
- Leading internal teams from shut commencement through to completion by ensuring all task owners understand and comply with the scope of work, work execution schedule, and expectations
- Deliver effective pre-starts and infield CRM verifications during Shutdowns.
- Demonstrating a strong commitment to safety to achieve a workplace target of zero injuries and incidents by providing support regarding HSEQ workplace policies procedures and critical risk monitoring.
- Completing deep dives into shutdown work orders and identifying constraints such as interactions, commissioning requirements, isolations/permits, accuracy of duration of tasks, parts, resources etc.
- Influencing team members and our contract partners to generate improvement ideas
- Identifying and driving cost savings through accurate forecasting & management of all shutdown costs.
- Reporting on shutdown completion and outcomes.
Classified Plant management –
- Maintain records for Classified Plant including inspection records and Classified Plant logbook entries
- Ensure all Classified Plant equipment details are correctly recorded and stored SAP
- Maintenance request notifications for remedial work as required are raised and follow-ups on existing notifications are done in a timely manner to ensure records of all tests, inspections, maintenance, and commissioning for the registerable plant are documented and readily accessible.
- Manage all resourcing to work on Pressure Equipment, Cranes, and Itinerant Plant and monitor work compliance and progress
- Reporting on key Classified Plant compliance metrics for Outstanding maintenance notifications, Missed inspections, Progress relating to CP projects, Non-conformances identified, and any reportable incidents
- Participate in –
- the repair and modification process for all Classified Plant
- the successful execution of Classified Plant maintenance and inspection
- the procurement of Classified Plant destined for our assets
- classified Plant commissioning and decommissioning process
- all MOC’s relating to Classified Plant at the site
- internal and external auditing
- Review and verify relevant documentation related to the items of plant being inspected to ensure compliance with WH&S and relevant Australian Standards
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Shutdown Management experience and exposure in a Project delivery role
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or 7+ years in an engineering trade in a Fixed plant, Ore Processing or Heavy industry environment.
- Proficiency with classified plant equipment integrity requirements.
- Excellent understanding of Work Management Systems and Processes; able to easily navigate through SAP and Gantts
- High exposure to Contractor Management System; CMS qualification required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to engage with the team and our contractor partners to promote site’s values and positive culture
- A willingness to learn and a continuous improvement mindset
- A positive outlook and an adaptable, flexible, and reliant attitude
- Dedicated commitment to workplace health and safety
- An unrestricted 'C' Class Driver's Licence
- MSIA/MSIR, WH&SA/WH&SR knowledge and experience
- Understand, and have a working knowledge of all applicable Australian Standards – (AS1210, AS3788, AS3873, AS1418, AS2550).
- Experience in auditing
