About the Role

This is a fixed term role to the end of January 2024, relating to a major maintenance shutdown in an industrial processing plant. The core intent of the role is to lead and coach the scheduling and cost control team, to create a deliverable, fully resourced schedule, and track work progress in both the planning and execution phases of the shutdown project.       

Key Task and Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
  • Set-up of shutdown scheduling and milestone tracking processes.
  • Development of Shutdown Controls to provide visibility of schedule progress and cost in both Planning and Execution phases.
  • Responsible for the integration of planned maintenance tasks, run-down and run-up plans, pre-shutdown preparation works, and support services into a common deliverable plan.
  • Facilitate Risk and SimOps reviews and schedule optimisation.
  • Ensure all labour, equipment and material requirements are identified and in place for the shutdown.
  • Provide estimating support to help establish the budget and ongoing forecast.
  • Track and report planning progress and completion forecasting.
  • Monitor, and assist in the control scope creep.
  • During shutdown execution, co-ordinate execution planning support, emerging work management and schedule updates.

About You

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

  • Previous history leading the Planning or Project Controls of projects or major shutdowns in a refinery or similar processing plant.
  • Trade background or Maintenance Engineer (preferred)
  • High level understanding of maintenance systems and planning concepts.
  • You will have demonstrated proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office products, in particular a high level of competency in Excel and MS Project.
  • Familiarity with tracking, reporting and analysis tools
  • SAP experience
  • Experience leading and coaching team members.
  • High attention to detail
  • Understanding of Stakeholder engagement requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organised and pro-active.
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a dynamic project environment
