Shutdown Safety Specialist
Work Location: Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 4D/3R – FIFO ex Perth
Role overview:
We are currently looking for safety professionals to join our Cloudbreak team as a Shutdowns Safety Specialist. Your role will be to ensure leaders, team members and contractor partners are provided with coaching and mentoring to achieve confidence and competence in safety compliance, assurance activities and are proactive in identifying and managing risk.
As part of Fortescue's Cloudbreak HSES team, you will be responsible for assisting with the implementation and auditing of Safety Management Systems to ensure continual improvement in a dynamic mining shutdown environment. Reporting to the HSE Superintendent, you will participate in the control of identified hazards and provide assistance in and guidance in incident investigations
Key responsibilities include:
- Participate in safety inspection processes
- Be actively involved in the Fortescue Contractor Management and contractor auditing process
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of health and Safety initiatives and promotional material
- Assist the shutdown team with the utilisation of Fortescue's Incident Management System (BMS)
- Actively participate in the implementation of the Fortescue Major Hazard Program
Education and Experience:
- Demonstrated substantial Safety Advisor experience in an operational environment, previous experience in the Mining or Construction industry will be highly regarded
- Minimum Cert IV Occupational Health & Safety, iCAM Lead investigator and Safety Lead Auditor qualifications
- Experience in Risk Management and Contractor Management
- Demonstrated high motivation and output under minimal supervision
- An awareness of the WA Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (mines) Regulations
- Experience in procedural (safety) development, Data analysis, trending & reporting
