Our Opportunity

Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine, located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples


Roster: 8D6R – FIFO ex Perth

We are seeking an experienced Shutdown Supervisor to join the Shutdown & Planning team at Solomon. Reporting to the Lead Shutdown Coordinator, this role is responsible for developing, validating and refining shutdown maintenance scopes across Solomon’s wet and dry processing facilities.

 

Working closely with Maintenance, Planning, Engineering, Reliability, Operations and OEM/vendor teams, you will ensure scopes are clearly defined, technically understood and ready to progress through the shutdown planning process. This is a hands-on, field-focused role requiring strong fixed plant maintenance knowledge and practical shutdown experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections and walk-downs to develop, validate and refine shutdown maintenance scopes.
  • Translate defects and maintenance requirements into clear, executable scopes for the Planning team.
  • Identify scope boundaries, constructability, materials, tooling, lifting, access and specialist resource requirements.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Reliability, Operations and OEM/vendor teams to resolve technical requirements and scope gaps.
  • Ensure scopes meet shutdown readiness milestones and escalate outstanding technical, material or execution risks.
  • Provide technical clarification to Shutdown Planners and support scope requirements through planning and execution.
  • Maintain effective back-to-back handovers and capture lessons learned to continuously improve shutdown scope quality.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated fixed plant maintenance and shutdown experience within mining, mineral processing or heavy industry.
  • Strong practical knowledge of crushers, conveyors, screens, feeders, pumps, gearboxes and associated processing equipment.
  • Experience scoping, supervising or executing complex fixed plant maintenance and shutdown work.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, technical documentation, maintenance history and OEM information.
  • Strong understanding of shutdown preparation, work readiness, maintenance risks and safe execution.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Relevant mechanical trade qualification and SAP Maintenance Management System experience are highly regarded.
