About the role

BHP is currently seeking to connect with experienced Rail Signals Technicians who want to join our world-class teams either now or in the near future. Having the right people working within our organisation will allow us to unlock the value of our assets by ensuring that we have reliable equipment, predictable operations, and a safe work environment for our people.

Our teams are based at Port Hedland, Redmont, Yandi or Newman dependent on the work required on a fly-in fly-out 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster.  Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in Northwest Australia. As part of the Rail Network Maintenance team (RNM) we are responsible to provide safe reliable system to transport Iron Ore from the mines to port.

Roles are currently available, and these roles are offered on:

  • Fly-in-Fly-Out (2:2)
  • Residential (Port Hedland)
  • Flexible work/roster arrangements

In a Rail Signals Technician role, you will be responsible for:

The maintenance and fault finding on BHP's production critical signalling system. The successful candidate will be working towards the delivery of value-adding projects and maintenance to ensure high level of availability for signals infrastructure.

  • Maintaining our signalling asset
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
  • Implements signals works and design changes safely
  • Ensure works are completed on time and up to standard
  • Assist with training of sub-contractors and other staff including apprentices and graduate Engineers

About you

  • Qualifications at a trade certificate level in railway Signalling
  • Cert IV Electrical Rail Signalling (Essential)
  • A Grade Electrical Licence (Essential)
  • C class Drivers Licence
